It's All Relative
So Daniel and Erik are here for a week-long visit, their first time out of the Cascade mountains since August. On the drive home from the Cleveland Wok, Daniel's favorite Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet, I proudly pointed out the spoils of our recent snowstorm.
"Look how gorgeous all this snow is," I said, as we drove over the river on Ford Parkway. "Look how pretty it is when the snow..." I paused, remembering that they've lived for six months in a mountain village where they snowshoe through the woods to get to breakfast. "...piles up around the stoplights?" I finished lamely.
My brother-in-law was generous.
"Well, we don't have very many deciduous trees at Holden Village. So this is a treat for us."
I almost pointed out the exquisiteness of the icicles hanging from the security fence around the new luxury condos that are being built on the corner of 46th and 46th, but I decided to quit while I was ahead.
